Life with God

1. I set apart an extended period each week for Sabbath-keeping — to stop, to rest, to delight, and to contemplate God.

2. I often withdraw from people and noise to be alone with God and my own soul in solitude.

3. I use a clearly defined Rule of Life — a set of spiritual practices and rhythms — to connect with God.

4. I regularly listen for God's voice and I am able to recognise when He is speaking to me.

5. I am growing in my capacity to receive God's love and life.

6. I am becoming less fearful and controlling, and growing in faith and trust in God.

7. I am committed to meeting often, in-person, with a small community for deeper conversations focused on God.

8. When I am asked about my sense of calling and purpose from God, I can answer that truthfully.

Life with Others

9. I try to cultivate spiritual friendships in my life where I am loved and challenged to grow.

10. I have at least one person (not counting a partner) who I can fully confide in and someone who understands my situation and my relationship with God.

11. I admit when I'm wrong, readily asking forgiveness from others.

12. I am consistently open to hearing and applying constructive criticism and feedback.

13. I can see how my family history may contribute to character flaws and unhealthy tendencies in relating to others.

14. Those who know me best would say I am understanding of others' feelings and perspective and am able to gauge my responses to them using this.

15. I find myself rushing from one thing to the next without time to really pay attention to what's going on in others or around me. (Reverse scored)

16. I am regularly able to say 'no' (or 'not now') to requests and opportunities rather than risk overextending myself.

17. My team and I can engage in strategic planning and decision making, but we don't always engage in a process of discernment (collectively listening to God, each other and ourselves). (Reverse scored)

Life with Myself

18. It is easy for me to identify what I am feeling inside.

19. I have a good sense of my emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual capacities and how these have changed at different points in my life.

20. I openly admit my losses and disappointments.

21. I am intentional at working through the impact of significant trauma events from my past that have shaped my present, such as the death of a family member, divorce, addiction, or financial issues.

22. I am able to speak freely about my weaknesses, failures, and mistakes without shame.

23. Often I notice that I am "going through the motions" of ministry rather than authentically experiencing and sharing my gifts and myself. (Reverse scored)

24. When I have a nagging sense that something is not quite right in me, I am able to take the time or make the effort to look into it. I usually know how to start this process.

25. I make time for attending to my human needs—exercise, eating right, getting enough sleep, doctors appointments and medical procedures, making home repairs, etc.

26. I make time to regularly engage in hobbies and other activities outside of church activities that bring me joy.
