Prayer Walk 2020

Will you join our Prayer walk?

From the 18th – 30th May we are holding a national prayer walk across the network of canals from London to Chester.

Joining with the #thykingdomcome movement, we would love you to choose a section of the canal to walk along, and pray.

It really is that simple!

We would love you to sign up to enable us to know who is praying when and where.

The Lord spoke to Joshua and said: ‘I will give you every place where you set your foot’ Joshua 1 v 3

Joshua was instructed to conquer and occupy the land that the Lord had promised originally to Abraham and then to Moses.  We have an opportunity to continue that work by taking hold of England through prayer.

Part of Kx’s vision is to see one expression of church in every 1,000 people across the UK.  To take this ground in the natural we need to pray it in the spiritual. God is asking us to prayer walk in order to see a shift in the atmosphere across our nation.

Over the past 4 years the Archbishop of Canterbury has encouraged Christians to pray in the two weeks leading up to Pentecost on the theme of ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.  In May 2020 you can join in by prayer walking part of a canal route from London to Chester. Together in unity as we all do our bit we can see a change. Prayer works!

The Vision is:

  • To prayer walk the land believing God for one expression of church for every 1,000 people, so that the nation can be re-evangised.
  • To be part of a global prayer event with the Archbishop of Canterbury’s fortnight of prayer, with over 65 million Christians worldwide.
  • To be good news to those we meet along the way

The outcomes we are believing for:

  • Revival in our churches
  • A  move of God’s Holy Spirit across the nation
  • The advance of His Kingdom, breaking the strongholds of the enemy such as consumerism, idolatry, materialism, and secularism.
  • The building up of our own prayer life and that of our church

By walking from Chester to London along the Grand Union and Shropshire Union Canals.

  • Praying and blessing the land
  • Declaring God’s word
  • Seeking His guidance and inspiration
  • Listening to Holy Spirit
  • Sharing faith with those we meet

The route will be split into short stages of around 10 miles, that can be  walked:

  • In any direction
  • Any day between 18th to 30th May or even before or after!
  • Alone or in groups

The Canal and River Trust has a wealth of resources to use for children on the route.

Visit their website for ideas, downloadable PDFs and information.

Please put the dates in your calendar and sign up to walk a section of the route here.
