Microplanting: releasing a movement of ‘multiplying missional expressions of church’
What is it?
We’re inviting Kx family and friend church teams to continue the journey with us as we explore the next stage of pioneering and planting. Over the last few years we’ve looked at the different dynamics of church multiplication and this year as we respond to the worldwide crisis of Covid-19, we’ll be considering how to provide support and focus on the new opportunities and innovations available to smaller groups.
As with every Community of Practice and Learning Community we go through the arc of learning. What is – giving us the opportunity to reflect together on many changes over the last year; What could be – with outside input to fuel our imagination and What will be – we’ll finish with making our 12 month plans to guide us through the next year.
Who is invited?
- Kairos Connexion Family Church teams
- Church leadership teams that have been part of a 3DM or Kx Learning Community/Community of Practice
- Experiences practitioners and their teams who are leading out of the values of missional discipleship within the UK
As a family of churches we are passionate about investing in the next generation, all teams are encouraged to bring younger leaders with them to this year’s Community of Practice. We would especially encourage you to invite young female leaders and leaders from ethnic minority backgrounds to join you on this journey. We expect that Gen Y and Z will be those who are most able to use this input and innovate quickly, pioneering into new physical and digital spaces and we want to support and encourage them along the way.
We recommend that you bring a team of between 3-6 people although there is no upper limit.
Who are our speakers?
Mike Moynagh
Mike Moynagh is a writer and theologian who’s fuelled a lot of innovation across the missional movement. Books like ‘Church in Every Context’ and his latest ‘Church in Life’ have provided crucial theological resources for practitioners. He is based at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and works for Fresh Expressions as Director of Network Development and Consultant on Theology and Practice.
He is pioneering new vehicles for supporting groups of planters in different regions and dioceses
His Fx:Godsend App is providing a wealth of material for those interested in pioneering new expressions of church
Brian Sanders
Brian is the founder and Executive Director of the Underground Network. A serial entrepreneur, Brian has helped to start hundreds of missional enterprises, including churches, non-profits, and businesses all over the world. Based in Tampa, Florida, the Underground now has movement hubs in thirteen cities and five countries.
Brian holds a degree in communication from the University of Florida, a Masters Degree from the University of South Florida in Religious Studies, and a Masters Degree in Applied Theology from Spurgeon’s College. Brian has lived with his wife and six children in intentional community in the inner-city for more than twenty years, embodying the ideas that drive him.
Peter Dunn
Peter was most recently the Director of Mission at BMS World Mission, but has now become European Director of the missionary organisation Biglife Ministries. Peter’s new role will be shared between Biglife and the Yorkshire Baptist Association (YBA)
Peter’s experience of Disciple-Making Movements (DMM) in India and his passion for rapidly multiplying small groups makes his contribution to our CoP particularly relevant and exciting.
Peter says ‘Starting on our street, my wife and I have sought to live out the Biglife that Jesus calls us to, sharing faith and seeking to make disciples who make disciples. Firstly, this involves us growing in our commitment to prayer, in actively seeking to share our own stories of faith and inviting people to what we term a Three Thirds group centred around the Bible, practical obedience, and loving accountability.’
Nic Harding
From a background of 10 years as a GP in Bristol, and planting 4 congregations, Nic, his wife Jenny and their 4 girls moved to Liverpool to plant Frontline church in 1991. This grew to a church of 1000 adults and children.
After handing on the church to younger leaders in 2015 Nic took on the national role of director of Kairos Connexion, a network of leaders and family of churches who are seeking to grow and multiply communities of missionary disciples all across the country
